【捷克查理大學學者來訪 深化國際學術合作】

國立屏東大學近期迎來捷克查理大學英語語言與英語教學系Tomáš Gráf教授,進行為期多日的交流訪問。本次來訪行程涵蓋了學術講座、觀課、議課及校內各單位的合作討論,目的在於鞏固雙方將於今年12月簽約成為姊妹校的準備工作,進一步增進學術合作與文化交流。
在訪問行程中,Gráf教授於11月21日於英語系進行演講,主題為「Beyond the Books: Research topics and approaches in English studies」,引發參與師生的熱烈討論與回響。此外,Gráf教授參與了教育系莊念青老師和音樂系葉乃菁主任兩系之英語授課(EMI)專業課程和大武山學院黃蘭棻老師專業英語課程的課堂觀摩與討論,藉此深入了解本校的教學模式,並提供專業建議。
11月23日校慶期間,Gráf教授受邀出席校慶典禮,隨後在國際事務處的安排下,與師資培育中心李梓楠組長、教育學院特殊教育學系鍾儀潔主任和STEM教育國際碩士學位學程古芷蓉老師,進行學術鏈結討論。隨後前往特殊教育中心參訪學習輔助犬和華語教學中心體驗文化活動。兩天期間出席多場學術餐敘,與校內師生們和姊妹校貴賓,進行深入交流。
在訪問的最後一週,Gráf教授於11月25日以「古典音樂與捷克國家認同的塑造」為題進行教育部大專校院學生雙語化學習計畫多元文化講座,與師生探討音樂如何在捷克民族文化與認同的形成中發揮關鍵作用。11月26日則持續進行教育部XPlorer探索者計畫:生成式AI融入商管英文課程計畫諮詢,也與教育學院李雅婷院長、黃玉枝教授和理學院林曉雯教授進行學術交流和文化參訪,為雙方未來的合作奠定堅實基礎。
本次捷克學者來訪交流,不僅為即將到來的姊妹校簽約提供了良好的溝通與互動平台,也讓國立屏東大學與查理大學在教育與文化上有了更深層次的理解與連結。
Charles University Scholar Visits National Pingtung University to Strengthen Academic Ties
National Pingtung University recently welcomed Prof. Tomáš Gráf from the Department of English Language and ELT Methodology at Charles University in Prague for a multi-day exchange visit. The agenda included academic lectures, classroom observations, and discussions with various university departments. The purpose of the visit was to solidify the groundwork for the upcoming sister university agreement to be signed this December, thereby enhancing academic cooperation and cultural exchange.
During his visit, on November 21, Prof. Gráf delivered a lecture in the Department of English titled "Beyond the Books: Research topics and approaches in English studies," which sparked enthusiastic discussions and feedback among the faculty and students. Furthermore, the Prof. participated in classroom observations and discussions with content courses taught by Dr. Nien-ching Chuang from the Department of Education and Prof. Nye-gin Gloria Yeh, Chair of the Department of Music, which focus on English-as-a-medium-of-instruction (EMI). He also observed an English course taught by Dr. Lan-fen Huang from Mount Dawu College, gaining a deep understanding of Pingtung University’s teaching methods and providing expert advice.
On November 23, during the university’s anniversary celebrations, Prof. Gráf was invited to attend the ceremony. Following this, under the arrangement of the Office of International Affairs, he engaged in academic discussions with Dr. Tzu-nan Lee from the Center for Teacher Education, Dr. Yi-chieh Chung, Chair of the Department of Special Education, and Dr. Chih-jung Ku from the International Master’s Program in STEM Education. Additionally, he visited the Special Education Center to learn about assistance dogs and joined cultural activities at the Chinese Language Center. Over two days, he participated in multiple academic luncheons, fostering deeper interactions with faculty, students, and guests from sister schools.
In the final week of the visit, on November 25, Prof. Gráf delivered a multicultural lecture titled "Classical music and the shaping of Czech national identity" under the Bilingual Learning Program for College Students of the Ministry of Education. This multicultural lecture explored the role of music in the formation of Czech cultural and national identity. On November 26, he continued discussions for the Ministry of Education’s XPlorer Project, which focuses on integrating generative AI into business English courses. He also engaged in academic exchanges and cultural activities with Prof. Ya-ting Lee, Dean of the College of Education, Prof. Yu-Chih Huang, and Prof. Hsiao-wen Lin from the College of Science, laying a solid foundation for future collaboration.
This visit by the Czech scholar not only provided a platform for effective communication and interaction in anticipation of the sister university signing but also deepened mutual understanding and connection between National Pingtung University and Charles University in the fields of education and culture.
